The Face Behind The Lens

Hi friends, it’s Syd :)

I started playing softball at six years old because my dad was a baseball guy and I was a big time daddy’s girl. For sixteen years, softball was basically all I did. Whether it was travel ball or high school ball, it turned into a year round thing for my family and I.

At 22 years old, I hung up my cleats and walked off the field for the last time.

From youth softball, to high school, and then college, I experienced it all. My career saw everything from the highest of highs — walkoffs, dog piles, championships — to the lowest of lows — slumps, errors, doubts — and i definitely failed way more than I succeeded.

And I learned a lot along the way. From building friendships, to life lessons, the strategy and IQ in between the lines. It’s crazy how much things in sports translate to real life afterwards.

I wouldn’t say my identity fell within my sport, but it was definitely a huge part of who I was, and who I still am today. Whether as a coach, mentor, fan or photographer, I want to always be able to contribute to the game that gave me so much.

I hope this is a place for that.
